Omni-sound (UK) Ltd
Multilingual commentary system for tour buses.
In January 2007, Omni-sound commissioned PaniK to design a system for guided tours onboard busses. The system has to provide at least 10 separate language channels, be simple for the driver to operate and be reliable, even in the harsh environment associated with an open-top bus.
PaniK designed the system around a compressed, digital audio technology, allowing the audio data to be distributed using simple twisted pair cabling – All 10 languages, incidental music and control data is carried by a single pair.
During 2007, the system has been developed, extra features have been added and around 600 “seat units” have been manufactured. The omni-sound system is now in active service in several Cities around the UK.

Midas
Midas provides noise level assessment surveys to private and public sector organisations.
An ‘outline idea’ to provide schools and colleges with a class room noise monitor based around ‘challenge goals’ resulted in PaniK being commissioned by Midas in 2005 Panik were asked to design and produce a working prototype of the classroom noise monitor, which they completed successful that same year. On behalf of Midas, PaniK now also to produce small batch production runs of the units.

Easy Meet
In September 2002, we were approached by Bath and North East Somerset council. Their requirement was for a simple, transportable meeting system that could be set up in an assortment of venues, when public meetings are to be held.
The public address system was to be supplied by PaniK Sound and Lighting but when investigating desk - top microphone systems, it was found that none of the commercially available systems met the council's requirement.
The Easy Meet system was designed specifically for the application. The system allows up to 50 table-top microphone units to be connected to a single daisy-chain cabling system. Each unit has a micro-controller to handle system priority such that only one microphone may be operated at a time. Any unit which is designated a "Chairman" can cancel the microphone operation of any other unit.
The council purchased 12-off Easy Meet desk- top units and one Easy Meet controller, which is a 19" rack mounted unit, providing the system power and connection to the audio amplifier.

Aeon Amplifier
Aeon Amp - Main Board |
Small start-up company, Aeon Audio approached PaniK with a partially completed design for a switch-mode audio amplifier. The project was launched in June 2002, the main aim - to produce a working prototype.
The customers hand - drawn schematics were used to produce a set of Protel documents and the whole job was then reviewed. Following some design input from PaniK engineers, a set of PCB boards were layed out in house.
The completed boards were tested and assembled into the hand-made prototype enclosure. The amplifier was demonstrated just 6 weeks after the initial contact between Aeon and PaniK.

Nima Interphone
Nima products approached PaniK with a telephone-based door intercom system for the domestic market.
The product was in production but there were several problems with the audio path. The door -based com electronics was replaced with a simple, half duplex system which has dramatically improved the audio quality of their product.
Greenlight TV Microphone
Greenlight TV are based in the Isle of Man and specialize in in-car and on-bike video and audio. They approached us with a requirement for a small, rugged microphone system to enable capture of the engine sound for their sound-tracks. PaniK designed the electronics and produced a batch of 20 units, fulfilling their requirements. Click to visit Greenlight
